  15. Chairman Otto Graf Lambsdorff advocated that the Maastricht
  16. treaty be renegotiated. In the magazine FORUM LIBERAL,
  17. Lambsdorff substantiated this demand by stating that Denmark's
  18. negative vote has jeopardized the further development of
  19. European union. Other referendums might also be negative. For
  20. example, he expects a "French no" if the left wing of the
  21. Socialist Party united with the Gaullists, Communists, Greens,
  22. and the extreme-rightists around Jean-Marie Le Pen. The result
  23. of the referendum in Ireland next week is also open. In Great
  24. Britain the pressure for a referendum is increasing. In new
