["dr." report: "Lambsdorff: Renegotiating European Union".
Munich SUEDDEUTSCHE ZEITUNG in German 12 Jun 92 p 1]

[Text] Bonn--Free Democratic Party of Germany [FDP]
Chairman Otto Graf Lambsdorff advocated that the Maastricht
treaty be renegotiated. In the magazine FORUM LIBERAL,
Lambsdorff substantiated this demand by stating that Denmark's
negative vote has jeopardized the further development of
European union. Other referendums might also be negative. For
example, he expects a "French no" if the left wing of the
Socialist Party united with the Gaullists, Communists, Greens,
and the extreme-rightists around Jean-Marie Le Pen. The result
of the referendum in Ireland next week is also open. In Great
Britain the pressure for a referendum is increasing. In new
negotiations, one could perhaps make the Danes concessions, he
said.
